Caught birds at a leisurely pace all morning. Started with grey skies and almost drizzle, then some late morning sunshine before the rain started just as we finished closing the nets about 12:30. It was nice to be worried that it might start to rain instead of worrying about it getting too hot! A few more birds – 30 new and 2 returns:
Black-capped Chickadee 1
House Wren 3
Swainson’s Thrush 3
Gray Catbird 5
Yellow Warbler 5 new, 2 returns (1 banded last year, 1 banded in 2006!)
Northern Waterthrush 1 (our 2nd this year)
MacGillivray’s Warbler 1
Common Yellowthroat 1
Yellow-breasted Chat 4
Green-tailed Towhee 1
Song Sparrow 1
Lincoln’s Sparrow 1
Black-headed Grosbeak 1 (FOS)
Brown-headed Cowbird 2
Open daily, weather permitting, through June 2.
