The Three-toed Woodpeckers were seen below (before) the trail junction of the Horsethief Park and Pancock Rock trails, and up the Pancock Rock Trail almost to the top/saddle. We found the highest concentration of birds at approximately 10750 feet elevation on the Pancake Rocks Trail and 1.7 miles from the parking lot for the Horsethief Park trailhead. This trailhead is on Hwy 67, approximately halfway between Divide (on US-24) and Cripple Creek. The Pancake Rocks Trail is somewhat strenuous.
