Breeding season is here!  We started the day with Yellows (caught 17 total, including new, recaps from this year and returns from prior years) and ended with Chats (10 total), with some of our other breeding species in between, all chasing around after each other.  Only the MacGillivray's Warbler and Lincoln's Sparrow were for-sure migrants.  All in all a good day, with 33 new captures and 6 returns from prior years:

Western Wood-pewee 1 new, 1 banded 2015
House Wren 3
American Robin 1
Gray Catbird 3
Yellow Warbler 9 new, 3 returns (2 from 2012 and 1 from 2013)
MacGillivray's Warbler 1
Common Yellowthroat 2
Yellow-breasted Chat 7 new, 2 returns (1 from 2011 and 1 from 2014)
Lincoln's Sparrow 2
Red-winged Blackbird 2
American Goldfinch 2

Open daily, weather permitting, through June 2, EXCEPT for May 30. It is almost always better to visit early in the morning. We are opening nets at 6:30, and most days will have birds back at the station by 7:15. There are school groups every weekday, arriving about 9:45. We aim to close by noon most days, earlier if it is very hot, very cold, or very windy.
