Our slowest day of the season; we banded only 15 birds.  It did not take away from our primary task of the morning, which was to work with a crew from CBS that is doing a feature story based on the reporting of birds dying around the time of the big storm. In addition to learning about the education and science of our banding program, they interviewed Arvind Panjabi, BCR's Avian Conservation Scientist, about this issue and the work he did on the Three Billion Birds Gone study.

Hoping things pick up again tomorrow!  Here's the breakdown of the 15 birds:

Ruby-crowned Kinglet 4
Hermit Thrush 1
Orange-crowned Warbler 2
Spotted Towhee 1
Clay-colored Sparrow 1
Song Sparrow 1
Lincoln's Sparrow 1
Gambel's White-crowned Sparrow 3
Mountain White-crowned Sparrow 1

I believe our Covid-limited visitor program is close to sold out for the balance of the banding season.  There may be a couple of slots for individual people.  For more information go to www.birdconservancy.org/bandingregister
