Thirteen people helped with today's Pueblo CBC. Thanks to all the
helpers, a few came from far away! Our species total appears to be at
least 93 species (we found 92 species last year). Seemed like the
usual large numbers of Red-winged Blackbirds weren't in the circle
today, though there were quite a few Eurasian Collared-Doves and
European Starlings as usual. There were a good number of white geese,
and all the expected waterfowl were found. A few surprising misses
occurred too. It was a lovely day though, it started cold, though in
the afternoon, it got up to 69 degrees. It was pretty calm in
morning, a little windy this afternoon.
Probably some of the rarer birds for the count today were (some of
these were found on private property, that we were able to access only
on Count Day):
Ross's Goose
Greater Scaup
Common Loon
Sora
Mew Gull - adult at Runyon Lake in Pueblo
Western Screech-Owl
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - female at Roselawn Cemetery in Blende
Say's Phoebe
Woodhouse's Scrub-Jay
Golden-crowned Kinglet
Lapland Longspur
Lincoln's Sparrow
Swamp Sparrow
Brown-headed Cowbird
Lesser Goldfinch
