I have made no American Dipper sightings on the Crystal River in Carbondale.
Heavy snow pack and big runoff here.
My
question is whether American Dipper researchers report any indication
of nest building location adjustment in anticipation of an unusually
high runoff. Last year, I watched a nest on a rock in the middle of
Grizzly Creek (drains into the Colorado upstream from Glenwood
Springs). This year water was so high the trail was flooded and nest
there would have washed away.
