Hey, everybody. Some notes from around Boulder County, these past 10 days:
Today, Mon., Feb. 6, Boulder Reservoir. 1 first-cycle great black-backed gull, 1 first-cycle lesser black-backed gull, 1 first-cycle Thayer gull, 9 bald eagles all in one tree, and at least 3 eagles elsewhere around the Rez.
Sun., Feb. 5, Hecla Lake; with Andrew Floyd. 1 female wood duck, 1 singing mourning dove.
Sun., Feb. 5, Boulder Reservoir. 1 greater white-fronted goose, gazillions of "white-cheeked geese," 2 lesser black-backed gulls (1 third-cycle, 1 second- or third-cycle). Also thought I heard a Say phoebe, but it was distant, and I never got a visual on it.
Sat., Feb. 4, Walden Ponds; with Peter Burke. 1 eastern screech-owl whinnying along the creek, 1 adult lesser black-backed gull at Cottonwood Marsh.
Fri., Feb. 3, Greenlee Preserve. 1 golden eagle.
Thurs., Feb. 2, Greenlee Preserve. 1 ruby-crowned kinglet.
Wed., Feb. 1, Boulder Creek at Arapahoe Avenue & Foothills Parkway. 2 ridiculously cooperative American dippers.
Sun., Jan., 29, Hecla Lake; with Andrew Floyd. The mother of all bushtit flocks.
Sat., Jan. 28, Greenlee Preserve; with Allan Burns. 1 killdeer.
Thurs., Jan. 26, Valmont Reservoir; with Hannah Floyd. 2 adult lesser black-backed gulls.
