Phalaropes in Broomfield

Hello all,

I went out this afternoon, looking for phalaropes at different locations around Broomfield.

My first stop was Matthew T. Glasser Reservoir, but it was dead except for Cliff Swallow swarming the lake.

Plaster Reservoir was much more successful. A flock of thirty-five Red-necked Phalaropes and a few Wilson's were swimming along the marsh on the west side. 

Interestedly, Quail Creek Park (which is behind the King Sooper's along W 136th and just south of McKay Lake) was teeming with Red-necked Phalaropes. At least sixty-five were swimming on the west side, coming in very close to the trail. If you need this species for the county, this would be a good opportunity to see them.
