All,
Based on the following post, it looks like this bird might be a hybrid
after all:

The bird in the article is identical to the one I found. I'll then have
to retract full 'blue' ross' goose at this time!
(but I'm leaning more and more towards Chihuahuan raven on the other
sighting...)
