Prowers and Bent County 10Feb2017

Greetings:

Gary Koehn and I birded in Prowers and Bent Counties, here are the highlights:

Northern Cardinals  2  male /female near feeder by the library  at LCC..  2 on far south side in the back area of the  middle, pinkiish house in the cul de sac by with a feeder near a cable fence.  Also in that residential area, the Carolina Wren, first heard by Dave Leatherman several weeks ago remains by the first house on the right as you drive in to the cul de sac.where it was signing it's  "teakeetle song, frequently behind the owners new-looking fence.  Perhaps you can stand on the cue de sac and face east and hear the bird and not enter any private property, on the concrete pad going over the river to hear the wren. Several other birds of note seen while there were 34 cedar  waxwings and 1 Lesser Goldfinch. 

Today Willow Valley Drive had 1 Red-breasted Nuthatch, 1 white breasted nuthatch. And 1 Lesser  Goldfinch. 11 Cedar Waxwing and a singing Townsend's Solitaire.

Private Property produced a Greater Roadrunner, Cinnamon Teal (3m) , a male Bufflehead and a Swamp Sparrow in Bent County.

5 Greater Roadrunners were seem at the north west entrance of the Lake Hasty camp ground.  On Lake Hasty there. was a Double-crested Cormorant. and one on the reservoir side swimming near 11 Great White Pelicans. 

We started the day at 53 degrees at 7:30 and ended it at 83 by four.  Too warm for February.
