I did a check of Valmont Reservoir in Boulder County today as a quick CBC scout.  Good birds included Tundra Swan, Greater White-fronted Goose, Ruddy Duck and Northern Shrike.   There were lots of grebes (3 expected species) and even more mergansers (all 3) present.

The TUNDRA SWAN was at Valmont Reservoir again late this afternoon.  Several hundred gulls were also there, more than half of them arriving during the hour that I was there before sunset.  The gulls included an adult THAYER'S GULL (probably continuing from last weekend) and an adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL (perhaps a new arrival).

In terms of numbers for the count, Valmont is still a good spot for Mergansers:  at least 31 Hooded, at least a couple dozen Red-Breasted, and roughly 1000 Common.
