This morning, there were at least two large flocks of Bohemian Waxwings in west Arapahoe County. Birders along the Big Dry Creek in Centennial reported one, of about 200, moving along the Creek and landscaping trees in the area.
I had the good luck to encounter another, along the High Line Canal Trail in Cherry Hills village. The flock (of roughly 100) was north of Colorado and Three Ponds Park, feeding on Buckthorn with Robins, a few Cedar Waxwings, and others. I watched them for roughly fifteen minutes before they flew off as a single flock, roughly in the direction of Kent Denver School (but who knows).
For those interested, I posted some photos and a write up about the waxwings along the canal on
my blog.
