Greetings

On Friday, I wandered through many of my usual Weld spots... without many rarities. A flock of 40+ Sandhill Cranes at Stewarts' Pond near LaSalle were a tad early, the young Krider's Red-tailed Hawk remained near the se. corner of Lower Latham Res whilst an adult was south of CO 56 on WCR 7. All water was open, non-RB Gulls were few, and waterfowl are now pouring through. Windsor Lake remains one of the birdiest places in the county and Highland Reservoir remains... well... populated by RB Gulls and very few Herrings.

On Saturday, David Dowell and I escaped the wind that plagued most of the plains and went up to Park (and Chaffee) Counties. The best birds were an adult Sharp-shinned Hawk and eastern Red-tailed Hawk at Lake George and 3 Barrow's Goldeneye and 6 Tundra Swans at the w. end of Elevenmile Reservoir, which had a tad of open water.

Ice Lake, in Buena Vista, which is private had 3 Cackling Geese and 107!!! Barrow's Goldeneye (and 140 or so Commons).

Good Birding
