Hello Fellow Birders,
Sunday I encountered a bird song that I can't figure
out. The bird was in a small grove of some green/some decadent deciduous
trees, all that remains of an old farmstead about 25 miles SSE of the town of
Yuma and about 20 miles WNW of Idalia.
It was a simple, seven note song, short whistles in two
alternating pitches. First note was higher, second lower, third
higher, etc., ending on the high note. It reminded me of a Tufted Titmouse
"Peter" song but slower and always seven notes. I never got a good
look at the bird, the only 'jizz' I got was it seemed about the size of a
tanager or large finch and seemed to have a seed-eater's bill.
Any suggestions or ideas would be gratefully received, please
contact me off-list.
Thanks!
Keep Smilin',
