This morning I heard and saw a mockingbird at one of my USGS Breeding Bird Survey (Boreas Pass route) stops in Como about 1/2 mile from highway 285!  It was singing loudly for several minutes before it flew away.  Hearing it seemed unreal at first because it was so loud until I saw it.
