About 30 minutes ago, I saw a Palm Warbler at the corner of Willow Lake Dr. and Castlewood Canyon Rd.
As I exited the park, I first noticed a Mountain Bluebird. I slowed down and noticed a smaller bird, perched on the barbed wire close to the ground. My first thought was Pine Siskin. I stopped, and had great close-by (10 feet) looks from my car.
- Dull brownish gray breast and belly. Faint streaking.
- Strong dark eye line and white supercilium
- Bright yellow undertail coverts. Bobbed his tail a few times.
- Distinct warbler bill shape
The bird flew off after 15 seconds in the direction of the park. Hugh and Urling Kingery joined my quest to relocate the bird, but we were unsuccessful.
