The birds are not sticking around Chico Banding station. Bird movement appears to pick up around 7:30 - 8:00 am when the birds would be coming down from their migration flight during the night. Another good banding day with 19 species and four new ones for the season (Lincoln's Sparrow, Yellow-breasted Chat, Black-headed Grosbeak, and Blue Jay).
The Common Grackles seem to be flocking in to eat the olives from the Russian Olive trees. The extra rain this summer has produced a bumper crop.
