Perhaps 100 small dark headed gulls are resting on the duck pond on Carpenter east of Timberline. If anyone a little more well versed in gulls is available to check it out, they looked a little peculiar to me. Thanks.

I should clarify that they looked peculiar because all of their heads were still dark instead of the typical no breeding patch. Is this unusual or do some adults keep their breeding plumage longer?

Franklin's Gulls retain most of their hoods in non-breeding plumage. There have been thousands in the area.
