ADAMS COUNTY:
--At Barr Lake on September 30, Dowell reported juv American Golden-Plover, Lesser Black-backed Gull, and
Sabine's Gull.
BENT COUNTY:
--A Blue-headed Vireo was reported by Duane Nelson at Tempel Grove on October 1.
--A juv Sabine's Gull was reported by Percival at John Martin Reservoir on October 4.
--On October 4, Dowell reported 5 American Golden-Plovers and 4 Sabine's Gulls at John Martin Reservoir.
DOUGLAS/JEFFERSON COUNTIES:
--On September 29, Suddjian reported 2 -3 imm Sabine's Gulls at Chatfield. On Ocotober 4, Kellner reported 5 Sabine's Gulls at Chatfield seen from handicapped fisherman's access point.
JEFFERSON COUNTY:
--An ad Broad-winged Hawks was reported by Suddjian flying S along the Dakota Hogback on September 30.
LARIMER COUNTY:
--At Timnath Reservoir on September 29, Mlodinow reported 1 juv Mew Gull and 1 juv Sabine's Gull.
--An ad Lesser-Black-backed Gull was reported by Baron at Equalizer Lake on September 30.
PUEBLO COUNTY:
--On September 29, at Chico Basin Ranch, Bill Maynard reported Chestnut-collared and McCown's Longspurs.
--On October 2, Margie Joy reported a Sagebrush Sparrow at the south side of Pueblo Reservoir SWA near the end of the dirt hunting/fishing access road.
WELD COUNTY:
--On September 29, Mlodinow reported 5 Broad-winged Hawks at Crow Valley and an EASTERN MEADOWLARK.
YUMA COUNTY:
--3 Sprague's Pipits were reported by Kaempfer at Pipit Hill near old Bonny Reservoir on September 27. Go east past old Bonny Dam to Hale and continue north. Take the track to NW, continuing on the fainter track to right when first is about to turn into someone's driveway. At top of hill, just before a windmill operated water hole were the pipits. On October 3, Kellner reported 3 Prague's Pipits at Pipit Hill.
The DFO field trip for Sunday, October 5 will be to Chico Basin Ranch led by Mark Amershek (mamershek AT
msn.com or
303-329-8646). Trip is limited to first 10 registrations. To carpool meet at Kings Soopers Parking lot at 100 Founders Parkway (just east of I-25) in Castle Rock. One-day birding pass for Chico Basin Ranch is $15 or $10/individual when with a DFO group. Co-leader is Bruce Neuman. Please arrive 15 mintues before 0600. Need volunteers to drive
high clearance vehicles on ranch roads. The ranch is about 100 miles from Castle Rock. Scopes will be handy but
not necessary. One two-way radio per car will be helpful. This trip is full.
