We had one of the best days of our banding season today, much of which we shared with the Bird Conservancy's Board of Directors.  The predicted showers did not start until we were heading for home around noon; instead we had a sunny but cool morning with minimal winds.  46 new birds and 2 returns, 20 or 21 species (pending a decision about a probable female Baltimore Oriole, which would be a first for the station):

Western Wood-Pewee 3 FOS - VERY late
Willow Flycatcher 1
Dusky Flycatcher 1
Red-eyed Vireo 1 FOS
House Wren 4
Swainson's Thrush 1
Gray Catbird 6
Cedar Waxwing 4
Yellow Warbler 7 new, 1 return, banded 2023
Northern Waterthrush 2
MacGillivray's Warbler 3
Common Yellowthroat 1
Wilson's Warbler 2
Yellow-breasted Chat 3 new, 1 return, banded 2023
Spotted Towhee 1
Green-tailed Towhee 1
Chipping Sparrow 1
Song Sparrow 1
Baltimore Oriole 1
Bullock's Oriole 2

We are banding Tuesday through Sunday (closed Mondays) through May 31, weather permitting.  You can register to visit on the weekends through the Denver Audubon website.  (Some times/days are sold out, so sign up now if you are interested!)
