This morning I saw the Black and Eastern Phoebes immediately west of the 75th Street bridge over Boulder Creek. They were flying up to their nest, which is under the north span of the bridge.
All the open fields south of the North Teller parking lot off Valmont Road have been mown, and I saw and heard no Dickcissels there last Sunday. However, I did see one, along with Bobolinks, just north of the dirt parking lot, which is just west of Cherryvale Road on the way to the Boulder County offices. This road leaves Cherryvale 200 meters south of South Boulder Road. In addition, yesterday morning I saw one Dickcissel, and heard a number more, in the field that is in the southeast corner of 65th Street and Saint Vrain Road as I was riding past. This field has not been mown, and the birds should be easy to see: one was singing from the telephone wire on 65th St.
