This afternoon saw the Red Fox Sparrow that John Breitsch reported this morning, just as he said, very skulking bird hiding deep in junipers, the north to south row of junipers at the northwest corner of Ricky Weiser Wetland. I spread some bird seed on the path, imitating Mike Henwood, but the Fox Sparrow was having none of it. There was a Townsend’s Solitaire at the junipers, too.

Also this afternoon saw a Cattle Egret (late) at the northwest corner of Cottonwood Marsh, perhaps the same bird David Waltman reported next door at Sawhill Ponds yesterday.

Yesterday afternoon saw a Greater Yellowlegs (late) at Walden Ponds, probably the same one that Ted Floyd reported on 11/19/12. It was on a spit on the south side of Cottonwood Marsh, tolerant of the beeping of an end-loader working on the parking lot.

As for Ted’s 7 Swamp Sparrows of 11/19/12, I am sorry to report 0 from yours truly despite trying here and there. As Rod Stewart sang, “Some guys have all the luck….Some guys do nothing but complain.” J
