Sandhill crane, Cherry Creek State Park (Arapahoe county)

Was pleasently surprised by a single Sandhill crane in the park around 5pm. It flew up out of the tall grasses about 150 yds east of the Cottonwood pond. It circled several times and headed off to the north.

 

Also of note, a male and female kingfisher are being seen on a regular basis at the pond. Nesting pair this year?
