Starting our winter raptor survey in Lafayette, we saw 5 pheasant on the NW corner of Arapahoe and 119ty st. Provenance? We are wondering if they are wild or released.

Hi, everybody. I was at this very intersection this sunny Sunday morning, Jan. 3, and I saw at least eleven (11) ring-necked pheasants. My guess it that they're released. They're also quite wild... :-)

Also, a decent flock of horned larks here and a distant flyby falcon, probably a prairie. Nearby Prince Lake No. 2 had 2 or 3 species of Corvus flying east, as they do every morning through eastern Boulder County airspace, and many western meadowlarks, including a few songsters. And Erie Rez, which I visited only briefly, had thousands of ducks, gulls, and geese--consistent with Elena's report from a few days ago.
