        Lyons walk this morning from Picture Rock Trailhead and Parking area down Old Saint Vrain Road to the end by the bridge and back.  Approximately 8 am to 12:30 pm.  Ran into several birding groups.   Here's what I saw and counted:

American White Pelican - 10 - flyovers

Turkey Vulture - 1

American Kestrel - 1 male

Red Tailed Hawk - 2 

Swainson's Hawk - 1

Wild Turkey - 1 female

Eurasian Collared Dove - 2

Mourning Dove - 14

White Throated Swift - 15

Broad Tailed Hummingbird - 14 - both males and females

Northern Flicker - 8

Downy Woodpecker - 1

Empid flycatcher ssp - 1

Say's Phoebe - 2

Western Kingbird - 4

Warbling Vireo - 1

Blue Jay - 6

Black Billed Magpie - 1 - being attacked by a red winged blackbird

American Crow - 6

Violet Green Swallow - numerous

Barn Swallow - 2

Black Capped Chickadee - 12

White Breasted Nuthatch - 1

House Wren - 14

Blue Gray Gnatcatcher - 6

Yellow Warbler - 25 - males and females;  songs, foraging, chases

Western Tanager - 2 males

Green Tailed Towhee - 2

Lark Sparrow - 1

Black Headed Grosbeak - 6 - songs

Lazuli Bunting - 7

Red Winged Blackbird - 14

Common Grackle - 17

Brown Headed Cowbird - 8 - males and females

Bullock's Oriole - 8 - all males, singing

House Finch - 21

American Goldfinch - 2

Lesser Goldfinch - 1 - male

House Sparrow - 6

The gray catbirds and yellow warblers take the prize for most vocal.  

Conspicuously absent:  Rock Doves

At Meadow Park, Lyons (now named LaVern Johnson Park):

Golden Eagle - 1 adult feeding two chicks on nest above the soccer field - easy to see

Mountain Chickadee - 1

Yellow Warbler - 2

Barn Swallow - 4

Violet Green Swallow - 12

House Wren - 1

At Bohn Park Lyons, and vicinity:

So nothing out of the ordinary, but sure was nice to see all the orioles and tanagers and grosbeaks.
