Cobirders,
I haven't seen any reports yet this year so this may be the 1st day back for the Osprey at Lagerman. It was actively defending the platform from nearby Bald Eagles more intent on prairie dogs I presume.
There was also a flock of 21 Mountain Bluebirds on the west side and a single American Pipit working the rocks near the dam spillway.  It's a beautiful day to be socially distant!

Good birding,

I thought I saw an osprey on the osprey tower at South Platte park on 3/21. I only had my binoculars and didn’t feel completely sure about it and thought it might be a bit early for one to be there.

Hi Deb,
I noted that my first sighting of the Osprey at South Platte park last year was on 3/31.So it may not be too early for one to be there. Thanks for the heads up - I'll go take a look and then visit the American Dipper under Mineral too!

As someone who lives (almost) right next door to CCSP, I can say that there are ospreys around almost all the time. If there’s any seasonality to their presence, I’ve not noticed it.

Ospreys leave Colorado in the winter.  They are usually away from the state from mid- November to early/mid March.  Quite a few Ospreys on their nesting platforms, below Pueblo Reservoir dam, in Pueblo County this morning.
