Hello all,

Hope this email finds you well.

Some news from the COBIDAS checklist front.

OHBM: the conference

First I am finishing the OHBM poster for the cobidas checklist: everything is in this google drive folder

I am designing the poster as a google slide. Feel free to have a look and make comments.

I am keeping the text information to a bare minimum and just trying to make a decent info-graphic explaining how the different moving parts of this project

We were also given the chance to do a software demo that I still need to shoot: it will get done.

Things are bit rushed. For both of those the deadline is tomorrow but I have been "a tad" busy organizing the OHBM online hackathon.

OHBM: the online hackathon

As one of the organizer of the event I will be there (duh), but I might be too focused on running around like a headless zombie chicken to lead a project on the cobidas-checklist.

Not sure if you will be attending, but if you are, I would like to mention that Sanu (who is on this mailing list) will be leading a project on ReproSchema which is a) very cool and much needed initiative and b) pretty much the backbone of the cobidas checklist. So go and have a chat with her about the project and help her work on it.

If you are not attending the hackathon... Well there is still time to register. Just saying.

The app: some ideas

I think will be doing some reorganizing of the project soon. Until now we used an OSF project to centralize all the different github repos, google drive... OSF has many advantages but it also has a user interface that sucks the will to live out of you in 5 minutes if you have to navigate more than 2 sub-folders or upload nested folder hierarchies.
I think it might make more sense to at least centralize all the repos in a github organization.

Which leads me to asking you a question: what should this organization be called?

I guess we could stick with one of the following:

  • eCOBIDAS
  • cobidas-checklist

But if you have some preference or some original idea, let me know.

Otherwise I hope that we will soon be able to have an extended version of the app with twice the number of items.

Other checklist

Finally I would like to point out some other checklists that have been created in the past few months. 2 of them related to neuroimaging.

I am tempted to generate schemas for those too the way we are currently doing for the neurovault metadata.

That is all from me. For now.

Hi Remi

Regarding consolidation of the project hosting and continued work on it, I suggest you first try to make it part of an already existing larger organization rather than creating your own (small) organization. For example as https://github.com/ohbm/cobidas-checklist repository under the OHBM organization. That might require that you have tyo adhere to the larger (e.g. OHBM) guidelines, but I think that is actually good; it means that you don’t have to come up with your own guidelines/governance/etc and might increase the quality standards for project management.

Oh I like the idea of not reinventing the wheel.

Good thinking.

I guess I will have to make some "phone calls".

@Tom Nichols: do you think this is a possibility?

Yes!  We certainly should get this into OHBM rep.  I think Cameron Craddock has control.  I'll ask him.
