Dear Friends and Neighbors,
You are cordially invited to attend a habitat restoration event at Little Whitby Meadow on Sunday, June 8, 2 - 4pm. The purpose of the event is to support the Whitby Meadows Ecological Restoration project, which is being headed up by Audubon Mid-Atlantic.
Help build a healthy ecosystem that supports wildlife like this Red Fox cub I recently photographed by the meadow:
We will be focusing on:
- Watering and weeding our recently planted Native Pollinator Garden (with funding from George Ambrose & the Alliance for Watershed Education)
- Removing invasive Wild Hops around a large cluster of naturally occurring Common Milkweed
- Anything else that needs doing!
When? Sunday, 6/8, 2-4PM
- If you are coming from Philadelphia, go to the intersection of Cobbs Creek Pkwy and Whitby Ave. Walk west on Whitby Ave. towards Yeadon. Walk on the south-side of Whitby Ave. because the north-side does not have a continuous sidewalk. After you cross the bridge over Cobbs Creek, you will see a gate on the north-side of the street. Carefully cross the street to the gate.
What to bring? Nothing except your enthusiasm! All equipment, including work gloves, will be provided. It is strongly recommended that you wear (light-weight) long pants, as we will be working in areas with overgrowth, and closed-toe footwear.
Hope to see you!
Larry
Cobbs Creek Park Ambassador
