Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Do you like biodiversity? Me, too! Put your values into action by helping to restore Little Whitby Meadow on Sunday, April 12, 2 - 4pm.
The goal of this event is to support the Whitby Meadows Ecological Restoration project, which is being headed up by Audubon Mid-Atlantic.
We will be focused on repairing the enclosures protecting young trees that were planted by Audubon over the last couple of years.
Accessibility Note: Attendees will need to navigate over two above-ground pipes (about 3 feet in diameter) that currently bisect the meadow. (The pipes are temporarily diverting flow from underground sewer lines, which are being relined.) You can cross the pipes by sitting on top and swinging your legs over. Because of this, the meadow is currently not accessible for those with mobility aids and limited lower-body mobility. I will of course be right there to offer a steadying hand to anyone who needs it while crossing!
Please REGISTER here.
When? Sunday, April 12,
2-4PM
Where? We will meet at
the entrance gate to Little Whitby Meadow located
here.
-
If you are coming from Philadelphia, go to the intersection of Cobbs Creek Pkwy
and Whitby Ave. Walk west on Whitby Ave. towards Yeadon. Walk on the south-side
of Whitby Ave. because the north-side does not have a continuous sidewalk.
After you cross the bridge over Cobbs Creek, you will see a gate on the
north-side of the street. Carefully cross the street to the
gate.
What
to bring? Nothing
except your enthusiasm! All equipment, including work gloves, will be
provided.
What
to wear? It
is strongly recommended that you wear long pants and
closed-toe footwear, as there may be overgrowth in the areas where we will be working.
Please
feel free to email me with any questions at larryco...@gmail.com.
Hope
to see you!
