Hi Cobalt team,

Cobalt support vp9 currently and we also integrate our platform and make vp9 playback. (we use master branch 17.180626)

In function GetVideoCodecFromString inside starboard/shared/starboard/media/codec_util.cc
It only parse vp9 as kSbMediaVideoCodecVp9. But YoutubeTV will ask for "vp09.02.51.10.01.09.16.*" and "vp09.00.51.08.01.01.01.01" for HDR content.
Our platform can support vp9.2 decode and ouput, so I modified this function to treat vp09.02 as kSbMediaVideoCodecVp9.
After doing so, we still encounter YoutubeTV error (and decoder flow is not called), the error may happens in early stage of communication.

Does Cobalt support vp09.02?
Which part may need to be modified also?

Hi Mark,

Yes Cobalt can handle VP9.2 and HDR if your platform supports it, and if you implement Starboard correctly.

I think StackOverflow is best positioned to discuss this further. Can you please raise a question at https://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/cobalt?
For more Cobalt related public channels information, please refer https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/cobalt-dev/lwH3cKoECJs

Thanks,
Daniel
