To All

This is part of an email I wrote today, in reply to a question if anyone had spoken to the Glovers , owners of 146 Glenmore who have through Dirtworks filled the application

Yes I agree
I do not know the Glovers personally at all
I agree Brian, does anyone know JD and his wife ? If not maybe a couple of us should ask to met them for  coffee at BC as this does not apply to them , I dont like being told what to do on my property, interference by nosey neighbours.
Its the size and side effects of these operations that impact so many people concerns me and why this time I am becoming involved  'having my say'

Pat

opps - didnt read very well before sending :
it doesnt apply just to them but to other landfills

Hi Pat,

I have told JD (as he calls himself) that I have written to the Council and formally objected to his proposal, and complained to the Council too about them reneging on an assurance they gave me in writing earlier that I would be notified of any land fill application received by Council iro #146. Their reply that they were considering the application as non-notifiable made me question the impartiality and competency of the Council to handle this matter.

JD is a pleasant enough guy socially as far as I am aware - I don't know him very well, but he will not be an easy guy to negotiate with - he is clearly very used to getting his own way, and can be very forceful.

Regards

Geoff

In summary what I think is being said is that in general residents and neighbours have no issue with Mr Glover improving and subdividing his land. What we do have issue with is the proposal to have a landfill site on his property with the consequential detrimental effect this will have on the community on general. Personally I am relaxed about whether or not neighbours meet with Mr Glover and explain their concerns - he was quite happy to impose this landfill without consulting us. Our focus should be on getting this proposal thrown out.

I understand from my son-in-Law who lives in Whangapararoa that the headline today in the  Rodney Times is about a group seeking a moratorium on all land filling in Rodney. I have not seen the article yet but it may be a movement we can align with?

Am away in a few minutes for next few days so, if anyone has a chance to follow up on this it would be appreciated.

If you Google 'Moratorium sought for landfill applications in Rodney' you should find it. It is on Stuff.co.nz
