Very disappointed to see yet another landfill, this one at 172 Glenmore Road. The road has been ripped up and mud for several hundred metres down the road. I guess if you can’t beat them, join them. Interesting to see that it’s the same contractor that was running the one at the end of Coatesville Heights.

An Abatement has been issued this morning, so at this point there will just be some earthworks continuing to finish off.
All the people in this group were up in arms when Glover applied to do a Landfill but when he continued to do it unofficially neither Howard and Joy or Eric and I got any support when we continued to try, year after year, to get the council to stop him.
Sadly we now have a second family in our community cutting their losses and leaving because of him - and I don't blame them.

Glenmore Rd now has a new landfill site - and again without any Council consent issued. For the last 4-6 weeks there has been a steady stream of trucks driving up Glenmore Rd and into Coatesville Heights - driving the entire length to a site right at the end of that road. Trucks are following one another in a constant stream arriving within one minute of each other 6 days a week. To give you some idea of the scale of this operation, we have followed some of these trucks from the other side of the Harbour Bridge!
We have complained to the Council who confirmed that no consent has been issued, but they seem to be incapable of doing (or unwilling to do!) anything about it. We've been told that "the owner is overseas" (somehow that seems to make it okay?) and "it should taper off after (last) Saturday" (it hasn't!)
We are over it. After years of putting up with the Glover landfill at 150 Glenmore Rd we now have to suffer a steady stream of heavy trucks changing gear as they turn around our corner. I have nearly been knocked over as I opened my letterbox one day. It seems that the earthmovers are happy, the landowner is happy, the Council doesn't care and we residents just don't count.
I encourage anyone who cares about this happening for the rest of our lives here to write to everyone who stands for our ward at the upcoming local body elections asking what they intend to do about Coatesville becoming the landfill capital of Auckland city.
