Hi there Coastal Condors,

The TV Show, "Hotel Impossible" will be filming in San Juan Batista on April 17 and they are looking for someone to do a PG or HG tandem or a simulated tandem.

I told them that as far as I know there is no place to HG or PG in San Juan Batista and that closest place is Marina. Further, they would have to wait for the winds to come up.

If anyone is interested, please see the information below.

Thanks,

Susan Kent, PG Pilot and Coastal Condors member

Anyone interested in trying to work with this show for a tandem in San Juan Bautista?  Don't know how realistic this is as they want to try to start at 8 am but I told them they would need to wait until the winds came up in the afternoon, and the best place was Marina.

Hi!

My name is Diana and I'm an Associate Producer with the Travel Channel show Hotel Impossible.

We'll be filming at a local hotel in San Juan Bautista during the week of April 18 and we were hoping to film our host taking a tandem paragliding with Wing Envy

I couldn't really find where you guys are located but how far are you from San Juan Bautista?

To give some background, our host Anthony Melchiorri starts every show speaking about where he is, fun facts about the area and why visitors come there. We also like to highlight a nearby activity that tourists would want to take advantage of which offers something fun for the show and makes for a great opportunity to highlight a local activity - in this case paragliding!

We have a small crew and we wouldn't need too much time with you guys, just some set up and then filming the actual flight. We'd probably also have Anthony chat with one of the pilots where he can give some information and fun facts about your company, etc.

Ideally we'd like to do this Friday, April 22 in the morning around 8am but let me know what works with your schedule.

Also, if you're unfamiliar with the show, it's currently in its 7th season of filming and we're shown in over 100 million households. We really love to plug local businesses and create a mutually beneficial relationship!

Let me know if you have any questions and I look forward to working together on this!

Best,

Diana Glogau
Associate Producer | Hotel Impossible

Diana,

As far as I know there aren't any paragliding or hang gliding sites in San Juan Batista itself. However, this is a beach site at Marina on the coast that both hang gliders and paragliders use.  The trouble is that the winds that make conditions flyable usually come up more in the afternoon and not the morning. It is possible that you could film someone with their gear on the beach at 8 am, but you would have to either go the afternoon before, or that afternoon to get a flight.

I am ccing this email to several local pilots.

I have already been in contact with them about this. Since State Parks does not allow commercial use of the park it would be misleading for them to film a travel show featuring something that is not available to the public. I told them, and they agree, not to feature this in the show.

Tres Pinos is equally close to san juan bautista.
It is commercial there, and you could get towed up.

Great point Ben. It's much closer than Marina too.

Trey,
What about a HG aerotow perhaps out of monterey bay acadamy? Or, maybe a sled ride from ed levin or funston?
