to Marina Coastal Condors
Another Marina Ramp Repair is scheduled for this weekend, July 25,
2010. Can we make this move and not have to relocate for the next
several years? Only time can tell.
Last week the MCWD removed the Cement housing that was covering the
Desalinastion intake valve out in front of the beach launch window.
Hopefully they have moved it back, barried it deep enough, that
Winter's storms will not affect it for some time.
Along with that the High Surf warning sign was removed (atm), making
the launch cleaner for those that launch to the right towards the Ramp
bluff. I'm sure there is a least one pilot glad to see it removed.
Last week while Paragliding I finally saw our nemisis, Snowy Plover
Chicks (3). Little balls of fluff with legs, scampering about with a
parent in chase. The worst part was they were playing outside of the
Snowy Plover fenced in area. Some one call the Rangers and herd these
creatures back into their designated area!
This is the first time I have seen a S.Plover chick in all the years
of flying at Marina. Go Plovers!
A recent article on the BAPA list, implied going to Marina as the
logical place to try out Kiteboard Soaring. I really enjoy seeing most
forms of new avaition, but does this fit our area of use at Marina as
soaring pilots? These wings are small compared to a Paraglider but
have lines that take 3x the space a Paraglider does in the air.
Since most of these Kiteboarders are not pilots or members of this
club, if the situation arises, how will it be handled and or viewed by
the State in case of conflict or an Accident.
Although not as dangerous to the soaring pilot, the recent influx of
Sky Diving Ground skimmers has increased. Again, they are not club
members and are using this site (Lake Court and beyond) as launch
areas that we set the standards for to the State. Will any of the
above be viewed as part of our group by the State?
Comments and views on this subject are appreciated.
Personel trips planned for August, St.Johns, Indian Valley, and
WeaverBally. September, Indian Valley, Slide/McClellen, WeaverBally.
