Training course on Investigations, Assessment & Management for sustainable groundwater development of coastal aquifers, 9-13 February 2016, Kakinada, India

A Training Course on "Investigations, Assessment & Management for sustainable groundwater development of coastal aquifers" is being organized by NIH Deltaic Regional Centre, Kakinada, during February 9-13 2016 at Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. The topics to be covered during the training course include basic concepts of hydro-geological investigations in aquifers, assessment of groundwater availability, sustainable development and management of aquifers including groundwater quality. Advanced data monitoring tools, Role of GWDES, Use of remote sensing and GIS techniques, geo informatics, application of data driven models, analyzing surface water ground water interaction, conjunctive use etc. in managing groundwater of coastal aquifers are themes of interest at the course.

The main purpose of this course is to train the officers from States, Central organizations, academicians and researchers who are likely to be involved in monitoring, planning, development and management of groundwater in general and along coastal aquifers in particular.  The senior, middle and young level officers/participants from district administration and state government departments are invited to attend the course. Also, the course will be useful for the academicians and researchers, who are involved in R&D in the area groundwater management along coastal aquifers. The lectures and demos will be delivered by experts from NIH, field agencies and other reputed academic institutions.

Nominations of interested persons from Central, State agencies and academic Institutions may be sent to the organizers to register for the course. There is no registration fee. However, registered participants have to bear traveling, food and accommodation charges. Working lunch, tea and snacks, course material will be provided. The course is for limited participants and on first come first basis. 

The nominations may please be sent to coordinator or co-cordinator of the training course. It is also requested to please communicate the travel plans, requirement for accommodation on payment basis of the participants at Kakinada for making local logistics.

Kakinada is a coastal city and connected by train from Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. Samalkot station on Howrah-Chennai line and is 15 km from Kakinada. Rajahmundry, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada are Airports nearby.
