I've bought a couple box breaks before and yeah it's okay for maybe the younger people who want a certain player or thier favorite team, but true collectors cant get/find the variety they normally would getting thier own box. AND its easy to tell when someones opening fresh box/packs of cards and others who have already opened box's/packs and have resealed. Here's a couple hints to look for if you buy into those box breaks. There's good sellers out there who don't care about the cards as a collector but cares about the cards and just wants to sell and make a profit those sellers are the ones who open packs and box's containing a really good relic or autos.(of at least known good player /star or retired player that's well know)there's a difference when the auto is a Klay Thompson,Tony Parker or a Dr.J compared to a "Big Baby Davis"-Glen Davis, Stephen Jackson or Eric Snow lol Only a few in my experience seamed like they were honest and were just doing thier job. The others I could tell right away were up to no good and cared about collecting more than the buyers who some spent a couple hundred bucks on the pelicans?? Lol anyways.. this is what I noticed and studied watching different breaks and at some points I would slow the time SPEED and listen to their reactions as well as watching. sometimes if there's more than one host its a 2 man job and much easier for the break to be staged and i would reconsider but that's hard to do when you havnt been to thier breaks before or even know that resealing goes on but what ive seen and expirance the last couple months was a ratio of 6.5/10 or round down or up to 7/10 were staged fake resealed bogus breaks and easily detectable as well. (Hard to notice When your looking at the cards and just waiting to here that mount Zion get called, or that JA ha ha clinton dix of Whin-dixie its been a picksie- Picksies are the Cards they simply didn't want and usually are everyday type players, bench players or the old vet that's getting ready to hang it up soon. So if there's tons of those throughout the break keep an eye&ear mostly ear and rethink the breakers. Also When there's 2 people notice if one or not both are even into what their doing (everyone who collects and buys packs loves opening the packs, there's that excitement of what's next??or its gonna be better then that last pack ) If one sounds bored or goes away or one keeps talking to the another about kinda pointless stuff like past breaks they did and cards they pulled their keeping your hopes alive & minds active listening so you might not question or think about their staged break those are all clues ive notice- Magicians do similar talking type actions..(its like okay get to the point i don't got all night buddy) and that's another to look for is how long the break is and compare it to thier past breaks. if it's the same nunber of boxs? Who cares that means squat. One break could have way more Rookies in it from the last and it takes time to sleeve them. Another thing to look for is did they repackaged how it should be packaged that'd how I caught 2 dudes doing a break one time I was already sketched from the beginning from the buy cause they barely had reviews were extremly young and seamed sketched and were like rookies of minor leagues They got fake excited and yelled over a "MY HOUSE" Luka its like come on bro that's a $1-$3 card lol the best card out 0f 6 Prizm box's was a RJ Barret and that My House card every pink was washed up bench player or just a terrible player (for the collecting part I'm referring to) like a Steven Adams or Rudy Gay Evan Fornier those type of players were that break wad about so easy off the bat and when he opened a box I noticed it wasn't sealed up inside the top of the box like all the ones i have purchased myself and if you get lucky and can buy some before the jerk clerks by them all before store opens and or that dude who dosnt even know who any players are and just wants money or attention to do breaks gets them all (at least they might do it like it's suppose to be, and keep them factory sealed until show starts) you'll see how its always they same and the selection of cards you get are pretty different then those break are held. doubles and tripples are rare at least for me and Ill get 3 box's and only have a couple players doubled up and a bunch of rookies and some good goods. Its sad there's people like that but it's something to look for and remember to listen well i know it hard but don't follow into pointless and look for how they read or care about the cards and remember all players they are calling out. if you have had a regular team or blown money on. a team and got **bleep** you might have already questioned such thing the sad part is the boxs are less than $25each some not all and very bad planning and acting i trust 2 box breakers on ebay and I'm not 100% on them but they have consistent pulls and good ones with high value and my heart tells me their a
Message me and I can refer you or help float a different route but wasnt gonna leave any names and you probably have experienced something I've mentioned here. thanks for reading and hope I opened your mind or relieved it that your not the only one that feels or thought this way.
Ps check sellers store the rookies that reseal will have all autos and relic type cards and high $ cards kinda gives it away that all the goods have been found by them and we get the **bleep** leftovers. Another thing I caught i forgot to mention is remember and look at catds you do get I couldn't make break one time I was an hour late and i got a no name silver Prizm Luka Samanic spurs card and package took forever to show up and when i opened it was just a plain no name Luka prizm (I guess all of his prizms are no names, not for sure though) and not the nice fancy silver one they pulled andnthe gave me a bunch of extra prizm pink Damarre Carroll thatbtheu didnt pull? Havnt heard word back. still but I've watched the video couple times and my name is there for the spurs and did not get the exact cards they pulled for me and its **bleep** stuff like that too is why im out and walking
Take care, heads up, eyes open ears clean dont let the goons do ya.call an out maybe question them during break or tell them to switch something their doing that you've noticed and see what happens. Much luck. Message me with questions I have way more tips to look for and stories to share.
I love studying people motions and reactions to the people around them and world they walk on -slilent movies or partially silent movies are fun too or just turn the volume all the way down and just watch. Or sit downtown and watch the different people as they pass by(don't follow anyone) lol
It's Morphin Time!
TokuNation is continuing it's trip down memory lane with 1995 film Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie! And the third figure in this series of galleries is the 5" Legacy Movie Pink Ranger!
Packaging
If you haven't picked up a Power Rangers Legacy figure by now, the Movie Pink Ranger follows the same basic formula. Packaged in a triangular box Bandai has done the best job they could at evoking the look of the vintage toys from the original movie toyline. Just as with the Legacy Mighty Morphin TV themed figures this box perfectly replicates the look of the movie toys, right down to the more bare bones black & white colors. It may look a little more drab but it's still a great package. Included on the front of the box is a call out to the 1995 film and to further that connection on the back is a brief description of the films plot. Even going so far as to mention Ivan Ooze & Dulcea.
A brief bio about the Pink Ranger (Kimberly) is also given. Oddly the bio only makes mention of her Crane Ninjazord, when technically speaking these figures are based on the rangers pre-ninja based suits from early into the film. The rangers received the ninja zords/powers after losing their original powers. Though the Pterodactyl and other dino zords were never seen in the film, Kim calls out "Pteradoctyl!" to morph in the initial fight, and the Pterodactyl coin is still present both on her belt and chest on this figure. An oddity but not necessarily a detriment depending on how picky you are.
Figure
As far as 5" figures go the Movie Pink Ranger offers a bit more than the standard fare. To start you should know that this line of 5" Movie figures is literally the first time ever that the actual movie designs have been put into figure form. The original toys were mere metallic repaints of the TV show toys in movie packaging. But this figure is the real deal. From a sculpt and detail perspective alone this figure is leagues beyond the generally simple toys of the normal Power Rangers retail lines. Where those 5" figures feel flat and artificially roided out, the movie rangers are covered in armored technological detailing that really goes a long way to replicating the look of the actual costume. Since these suits were more armor than spandex they had a lot of detail to them, so I'm pleased that the toy has managed to capture that. Though the finer details are pretty bad. The morpher/belt area and chest emblem have incredibly soft details. They just aren't properly sculpted. and look like they're made of butter or something. The head is also a little bit off to me, a little fuzzy and undefined.
On the articulation front the figure has much of what we've come to expect. Hips that swing forward/back & side to side. The hips on the Movie Pink Ranger are particularly awful though. They're just so strangely wide, and the way they're sculpted means when you move them forward at all the well, butt area, looks like it's falling off the back end of this figure. She's got Knees & shin swivels with surprisingly decent rocker ankles. No waist joint sadly. The arms however are as bad as I've come to expect generally. Simple shoulders that move forward & back and can't properly stretch out to allow the arm a full range of up/down movement. This is mostly due to the sculpted in shoulder pads, but it keeps the arms from getting into dynamic poses. Elbow articulation is limited to a 90 degree angle only, and the wrists while on ball joints don't have much clearance to make use of them, they also pop off. A lot. The arms are kind of frustrating to me though as a whole. A simple bicep swivel could have made them so much more dynamic.
The head is on a fairly decent ball joint that allows for a good bit of tilting in all the primary directions too. I honestly didn't expect it to be as decent as it is. If only it had a little more clearance in the back. The paint however is kind of rough on the helmet, I've seen various Pink's at retail with so so white paint applications. Mine is a bit like that as well. Also a peg hole is built into the left side of the belt area to accommodate the included accessories, or a similar one from another 5" Ranger figure. While I don't own the 5" Legacy MMPR TV Pink Ranger to compare this figure to, I did have the S.H. Figuarts Ptera Ranger on hand for a general comparison.
Accessories
1 - holster. Used for the included weapon accessory
1 - Power Blaster/Blade Blaster. This is an odd one. While this item most certainly is in the film, in fact the 5 core rangers each have one holstered in the movie, none of them are ever used or seen outside the holster. Though the name Power Blaster has been given to the unused weapon, it's apparent that it's very much meant to be the film version of the TV shows Blade Blaster. The sculpt is a bit soft but there are also minimal paint apps making it look rather cheap.
1- Pterodactyl Thunder Whip. Not so much a whip as a rigid piece of pink plastic. If they had included 2 versions of the Thunder Whip, one pre-extended and one post, then I'd be happy. Or if the whip portion was detachable at all. But instead it's one solid non-flexible piece that frankly doesn't do much.
I'd really hoped for the Power Bow to be included as some sort of bonus to justify the supposed collector nature of this figure and it's price. Sadly you shouldn't expect that. Especially if you've been familiar with this line thus far. While the Bow may never have been seen in the film, the Blade/Power Blasters were never used either despite their appearance. And the weapon could easily have just been a repack form the Legacy 5" TV figure. As with the Movie Red Ranger & Movie Black Ranger, the lack of an additional accessory could be an issue for you when buying these figures. I expected better.
Final Thoughts
Like I said in the Movie Red Ranger Movie Black Ranger review, I love that original movie. Terrible characters, plot, CG and all. The suit designs have never been properly put into toy form and that's what has propelled my purchases of these figures. But once again, for the 3rd time around, I find myself fairly disappointed in this figure. Only buy it if you're a true die hard fan or collector.
