Theknowledge test is available to take online at KnowToDrive Nevada. These results are transmitted to the DMV automatically for the purposes of issuing instruction permits or driver licenses. The test is available in both English and Spanish. Touch-screen devices are not compatible with the online exam - only computers with front-facing cameras or camera peripherals.

Interpreters must attest that they are approved by a governmental agency, court, educational institution, or non-profit advocacy group by presenting a letter from the approving agency. This is submitted with an application (DMV 502). See DMV Approved Translators/Interpreters.

The DMV charges a Testing Fee of $25 for a first-time knowledge and skills test and $10 for all retests. The initial fee covers both written and drive tests for any combination of license classes or endorsements that are paid for at the same time.

The KnowToDrive Nevada written exam charges a $6.75 fee each time the exam is taken. This fee is assessed at the time of testing. The initial testing fee of $25 will still be assessed when collecting your driving credentials. These fees are in addition to other Driver License Fees. Certain medically-required tests are exempt. There is no charge for vision tests.

Study the Commercial Driver Guide to prepare for the test. The guide is only available in English and contains all the information you'll need to pass the test. In the first chapter, you will find a table titled "What sections should you study?" This table indicates with an "x" which section(s) you should study before taking the tests.

Make an appointment to take the knowledge test at a driver licensing office location that offers testing. The test fee covers one attempt at each knowledge test taken within 90 days of the receipt. See Getting a CDL for the list of required documents you'll need to bring with you.

The ELDT regulations establish a Federal standard for training CDL applicants. Applicants must successfully complete this training before they will be permitted to take the CDL skills test or, in the case of the H endorsement, the knowledge test. Drivers will search for a training provider using the upcoming Training Provider Registry. For more information, please visit the Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) webpage.

Effective July 12, 2021 District law (DCMR Title 18, Section 1303) requires all new drivers seeking a commercial learner permit (CLP) and those looking to convert an out-of-state CDL to complete mandatory Human Trafficking Awareness training before being issued a CLP or converting an out-of-state CDL.

The training involves watching a brief educational film and takes about 15 minutes to complete. The required training can be completed online and a printed certificate of completion will be issued upon successful completion of the online training.

Beginning November 18, 2024, State Driver Licensing Agencies (SDLAs) will be required to remove the commercial driving privileges from the driver license of an individual subject to the CMV driving prohibition. This would result in a downgrade of the license until the driver completes the return-to-duty (RTD) process.

Note: SDLAs with legislative authority currently have the option to voluntarily query the Clearinghouse and downgrade CDLs for prohibited drivers and may do so before the November 18, 2024 compliance date.

The Clearinghouse contains records of violations of drug and alcohol prohibitions in 49 CFR Part 382, Subpart B, including positive drug or alcohol test results and test refusals. When a driver completes the RTD process and follow-up testing plan, this information is also recorded in the Clearinghouse.

To get a DC DMV CDL, you must first take and pass all required knowledge tests to get a CDL learner permit with the class designation and endorsements that you need. All knowledge tests are in English only.

For example, if you take and fail the knowledge test on Tuesday, you will not be able to retake the test until Saturday. If you fail the CDL knowledge test six times within a 12-month period, you will not be allowed to take the seventh test until 12 months after you fail the first test. Please be sure you have studied the CDL Manual before you take the test(s).

The knowledge exams determine your familiarity with the operation of commercial vehicles, motor vehicle laws and safe driving techniques. Exam questions are taken from the information in the Virginia Commercial Driver's Manual, which is available at all DMV customer service centers.

To prepare for the knowledge exam, familiarize yourself with all information in the Virginia Commercial Driver's Manual. Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) must be completed before completing the HAZMAT knowledge exam.

To pass the exam, you must answer at least 80% of the general knowledge questions correctly. When taking the knowledge exams, select one best answer. Once you pass the required knowledge exams, you can take the CDL skills tests.

If you have failed the general knowledge exam three times, before February 7, 2022, you must complete the classroom portion of a Virginia approved Driver Training School program for commercial motor vehicles and bring the certificate of completion to a customer service center to satisfy eligibility requirements for re-examination. You must have completed the course after the date of the third exam failure.

To get your Commercial Driver License (CDL), you need to pass the vision test, knowledge test, and a road test. You should review all the steps to getting a CDL here. For help preparing for the knowledge test, see the CDL manual.

If you fail the knowledge test you must wait seven days before taking it again. You may re-take the test as many times as you like, but if you have not passed it after 180 days, you will need to renew your Test Receipt.

Once you pass the CDL Skills Test, you may take your permit and authorization slip to a Licensing Center to obtain your license.

If you fail the CDL road test, you must wait at least two weeks before re-taking the test. If you fail the test several times, the MVC may require that you wait six months before taking the road test again.

A Motorcycle Operator (Class M) License allows the holder 16 years of age or older to operate a motorcycle or motor-driven cycle over 50cc. A Motorcycle License may be issued on its own or with your Regular Driver License.

A Motorcycle Only License allows the holder 16 years of age or older to operate any two- or three-wheel vehicle of more than 125 cubic centimeters (125 cc). The rider examination will include a vision screening, knowledge test and an on-cycle road skills test. Note: if the applicant does not already have a valid Regular Driver License, the knowledge test for Class D is also required.

The Motorcycle-Secondary License allows the holder 16 years of age or older, to operate any two- or three-wheel vehicle of more than 125 cubic centimeters (125 cc) in the secondary position in addition to other vehicles. The rider examination will include a vision screening, written test and an on-cycle road skills test. The Motorcycle-Secondary License expires when the primary license expires.

Minors, 15 years of age, may apply for a restricted license to operate a motorized bicycle that is 50 cc or less, just as they would to operate a motor-driven cycle. The applicant must take a written test, vision test and demonstrate the ability to operate the motorized bicycle. The license issued will be restricted to a motorized bicycle only.

A Motorcycle Learner Permit is a special permit allowing minors who are 15 years of age to operate a motorcycle after completing the requirement established for a Motorcycle License with the following restrictions:

Permits are valid for one (1) year from date of issuance. At the age of 16, the holder of a Motorcycle Learner Permit may return to a Driver Service Center and exchange their permit for a Motorcycle License to retain the privilege of operating a motorcycle.

You can apply for a Motorcycle License including completing the knowledge and road skills tests at any full-service Driver Services Center in Tennessee. The requirements vary slightly depending on your age and whether you have a valid Regular Driver License or not.

If you successfully complete a Motorcycle Rider Education Program (MREP) course in Tennessee, you do not have to take the motorcycle knowledge and road skills tests. If you complete a Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) course in another state or country, you are ONLY exempt from taking the motorcycle road skills test.

After completing either the MREP or MSF course, you will receive a certificate of completion and/or a wallet card. MREP and MSF certificates are valid for one (1) year from the date they are issued. Completing an MREP or MSF course does NOT waive the required knowledge test if you do not already have a Regular (Class D or PD) Driver License.

If you have NOT taken a Motorcycle Rider Education Program (MREP) or Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) course, but do hold a valid Regular (Class D) Driver License or Teen/Graduated Driver License, your Motorcycle License examination will consist of:

To prepare for the Motorcycle rules of the road knowledge test, you will need to study the Motorcycle Operator Manual. This manual is available online below and in print at all Driver Services Centers.
