One of the most heavily criticized practices in the coal industry today is mountaintop removal. But it still can be part of the nation's energy portfolio, Rahall said.  "(Mountaintop removal) is under more severe attack today than it ever has been," he said. "... But let me say, in my opinion, mountaintop mining still has a role to play certainly in our economy and in the job-providing sector in West Virginia."
