Urge Your Representative to Sign Onto Important Housing Funding Letters, and Join NLIHC for FY14 Webinar on Thursday, April 11

Please contact your Representative now and urge him or her to sign on to the following “Dear Colleague” letters circulating through the House of Representatives. These letters voice support for crucial FY14 funding for programs serving the lowest income Americans. They carry significant weight if a large number of Members sign on to them. The letters can be viewed here, http://bit.ly/145DDy4.

  • Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA). Representatives Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Joseph Crowley (D-NY), and Jim McDermott (D-WA) are calling to restore HOPWA funding to its FY10 level of $335 million. Please ask your Representative to contact Mr. Nadler’s office at 202-225-5635 to sign on to their letter. Deadline: Monday, April 8.
  • HOME. Representative Marcia Fudge’s (D-OH) letter calls for restoring HOME program funding to at least $1.6 billion. Ask your Representative to contact Ms. Fudge’s office at 202-225-7032 for more details and to sign on. Deadline: Tuesday, April 9.
  • McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Grants. Representative Gwen Moore’s (D-WI) letter calls for “robustly funding” McKinney-Vento homeless assistance programs. Your Representative should contact Ms. Moore’s office at 202-225-4572 to sign on. Deadline: Tuesday, April 9.
  • Tenant-Based and Project-Based Rental Assistance and Public Housing Operating and Capital Funds. Urge your Representative to sign on to Representative Jerrold Nadler’s (D-NY) letter, which calls on the House to properly fund these programs. Your Representative should contact Mr. Nadler’s office at 202-225-5635 for more details. Deadline: Wednesday, April 10.
To reach your Representative, please call the Congressional switchboard at 877-210-5351 and ask to be connected to his or her office. Also, you also can visit NLIHC's website and enter your zip code on the right side to find your Representative’s number.
