Tradesmen is immediately interviewing and hiring hundreds of full-time laborers and skilled trades including electricians, carpenters, plumbers and other skilled craftsmen. The company is offering steady employment and fair compensation in return for a solid work ethic.

Employee safety is critical. Tradesmen requests that job candidates wear work boots and bring safety glasses, gloves and a hardhat. For those who do not have this personal protective equipment, a limited supply will be available.
Where A mobile Tradesmen Recruiting Center – where individuals can show up without an appointment – is at the NYC Business Solutions Industrial & Transportation Center, 168-25 Jamaica Avenue, Jamaica NY 11432 (at 91st Avenue, 2nd Floor).

Directions 168-25 Jamaica Avenue, 2nd Floor, is located between 168-169 Streets.
By subway take the F train to 169th Street or take the E train to the last stop which is Jamaica Center - Parsons/Archer. By train take the Long Island Railroad to the Jamaica Hub stop. By Long Island Bus take the N1, N2, or N3 to Jamaica (either the 179th St. Subway or the 165th St. Bus Terminal). There are also many NYC Transit buses that will take you to Jamaica Avenue. By car, take the Grand Central Parkway to 168th Street, or the Long Island Expressway to the Utopia Parkway Exit. Parking is available in a lot behind the Center, entrance on 91st Avenue.

We offer AT OUR BRONX CAMPUS AS WELL AS NEW BROOKLYN LOCATIONS a 15-week training course in troubleshooting and fixing computer operating systems, industry certification (CompTIA A+ and Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist), job placement in career-track IT jobs, and 24-month case management and follow-up.

The Edna McConnell Clark Foundation announces an opportunity for youth-serving nonprofits to apply for federal Social Innovation Funds grants. The Foundation is acting as an intermediary for the Social Innovation Fund and, in this role, seeks to invest in nonprofits serving economically disadvantaged youths ages 9-24 in communities of need. The NYS Department of Health, Bureau of Maternal and Child Health, announces the availability of funds to support community-based programs to improve maternal and infant health outcomes for high-need women and families in targeted neighborhoods. The overall goal is to improve health outcomes and reduce racial, ethnic, and economic disparities in those outcomes. Funded programs will work to improve specific maternal and infant health outcomes including preterm birth, low birth weight, infant mortality and maternal mortality through the implementation of evidence-based and/or best practice strategies.

EXTENSIONS GRANTED FOR SNAP BENEFITS
SNAP (formerly known as Food Stamps) recipients in 82 New York City zip codes are now eligible to automatically receive 50 percent of their October monthly SNAP benefit amount to replace food lost as a result of the storm.
Additional zip codes in New York City that experienced extended power loss may be added as more details about the number of households affected becomes available. The updated list can be found here: http://otda.ny.gov/news/SNAP-replacements.pdf.
Recipients in all five boroughs and the other seven counties affected can purchase hot and prepared foods with their benefits through the end of November, which under federal regulations, is not usually allowed.
