My name is Nida Hamid, a doctoral student at the Michigan School of Professional Psychology.
I am conducting a research study that attempts to illuminate the question, “What is the experience of Pakistani cultural
expectations for a first generation Pakistani woman living in the United States?” and am currently recruiting study participants.
Criteria of eligible candidates for this study:
1) Pakistani women 26 years of age or older.
2) Have spent their adolescent age (0-17) living in Pakistan
3) Have been living in the United States for 7 to 10 years.
The subject of this research is to highlight Pakistani women’s (with above requirements) experience of facing Pakistani cultural expectations.
As part of the study participants would be required to take some time to reflect on their experiences of growing up as a Pakistani women and their experience of being first generation Pakistani woman living in the United States.
In addition, participants would be required to reflect on thoughts and feelings about their cultural expectations, what’s been helpful in the negotiation of their thoughts and feelings about
issues regarding cultural expectations, and where they are now with how they feel about these cultural expectations.
Participants that match the eligible criteria will be required to be present for a face to face interview, which will last from an hour to an hour and a half. I will be traveling to where participants are if needed and the interviews will be conducted in private settings to make sure confidentiality is maintained. These can be completed in library study room or in an office setting.
All confidentiality will be maintained and regulated via APA ethical standards forms that participants will sign before the research interviews will be conducted. Please feel free to contact me via email at
nida.h...@gmail.com for further information and questions. If you know anyone that matches the criteria for this study, please pass this
along.
