YOU ARE INVITED to the Announcement of The American Pakistan Foundation & Special tour of Hanging Fire Exhibition at Asia Society on Thursday October 8th
Please join Mahnaz Fancy & Dr. Zeelaf Munir for the announcement of the
American Pakistan Foundation, a new not-for-profit organization, and a special
tour of the landmark exhibition, Hanging Fire: Contemporary Art from
Pakistan by Vishakha N. Desai, President and CEO of the Asia Society.
The Pakistani-American community has an important role to play at this
critical juncture of Pakistan's history. By forming such a national
organization, led by the community and with the support of both the US and
Pakistani governments, our mission is to develop a broad and sustainable level
of engagement between the peoples of Pakistan and the US to make an important
contribution to the social and economic development of Pakistan.
This evening will be an informational session about the American Pakistan
Foundation (APF) for the NY-area Pakistani diaspora (with similar events
planned across the country), please feel free to forward this invite to others
who might be interested.
Date: Thursday, October 8th

The exhibition has been called a
"milestone" by Time Out New York and the New York Times hails it as
"a highly anticipated event". Representing the current energy,
vitality, and range of expression in Pakistan's thriving arts scene and curated
by Salima Hashmi, acclaimed scholar and artist, the exhibition comprises nearly
50 works by 15 artists and includes installation art, video, photography,

ABOUT APF:
The American Pakistan Foundation is dedicated to the mission of
improving the social and economic condition of the people of Pakistan by
mobilizing a wide base of public and private support from the
Pakistani-American community and friends of Pakistan in the US. The APF
will focus on areas including education, social entrepreneurship, poverty-alleviation,
healthcare, and arts & culture and will work in conjunction with existing
programs to complement and grow these efforts. The APF will serve as a
secure and trusted channel that seeks to expand the community's current
philanthropic efforts by complementing them with new sources of funding and by
coordinating efforts to transfer skills and knowledge needed by the people of
Pakistan. This mission will be met by ensuring that APF is a
professional not-for-profit organization in compliance with section 501(c)(3)
of the Internal Revenue Code and with practices based on non-partisan, secular
