Subject: RECLAIM OUR STUDENTS - A COMMUNITY EFFORT
To the Community,
The Secondary Parent Council is undertaking a hard position to reclaim our students with respect to those who are still without a high school diploma (the Classes of 2010 and 2011) by commencing an on-going campaign to find them and ensure that NPS provides the statutory tutorial and compensatory services to support their effort to obtain a high school diploma.
These children's lives are on hold and, after discussions with District personnel, we ask that you join us in this effort. We have already received several strong commitments to help these children get back on track by ensuring that NPS treats them with respect and dignity by providing effective tutorials so that they can pass either the HSPA amd ASHA.
We primarily seek folk to help us telephone bank and go door-to-door (this will be a targeted campaign) providing the District provides the pertinent information.
We do not want to hear this can't be done. District personnel previously provided names, addresses, and telephone numbers to recruit NPS students for charter school enrollment.
This is a most painful chapter in our city's history and our community especially those children who face societal disasters because they can't move forward without that diploma.
We will advise you of the meeting date but, in the interim, please feel free to chat, discuss and e-mail any and all ideas about what a successful campaign looks like. There is no time to waste.
WE can and MUST do this; no one else seems to care.
Wilhelmina
