Hello everyone,

We ask you to attend ONEC's "Stop Experimenting on Our Children" workshop being held October 8th at Essex County College.
The Abbott Leadership Institute is a member of the New Jersey Education Organizing Committee, along with the One Newark Education Coalition, and the Education Law Center. This workshop will count as an ALI Extra Credit Class. If you plan to attend let me know via email so I can give you the credit. See message below, and flier.

One Newark Education Coalition, with the support of the NJEOC, would like to invite you to our upcoming workshop. Entitled: “Gov. Christie: Stop Experimenting with our Children! Our Children are NOT Factory Workers but Students!”

We are committed to grassroots community organizing. We organize for equitable, resident-led education reform. We believe community residents, especially parents and youth, should exercise their right to influence policies that impact their everyday lives. This teach-in will engage residents in an interactive discussion about Governor Christie’s education reform agenda and its harmful impact on children schooled in Abbott districts. Although Governor Christie’s policies often affect students statewide, we believe that residents in Abbott districts should discuss how his policies perpetuate unproductive division and competition between students and communities (e.g. lottery for charter schools).

Please use the attached flyer to distribute and increase awareness about this upcoming workshop.

The workshop will take place at

Essex County College- Newark, NJ

303 University Avenue

Main Campus- Yellow Area 3rd Fl (additional signage will be posted on the day of the event)

We truly look forward to having you attend. Please let us know that you are coming in advance so that we can make certain to accommodate you comfortably. You can let us know you will attend by doing the following:

Email: onenewarkedua...@gmail.com

Phone: 973.242.3555

Hoping to see you soon,

One Newark Education Coalition
