The Institute For Entrepreneurial Leadership is pleased to announce that the next session of QuickStart, the IFEL entrepreneurial training program for the unemployed, will begin on
Tuesday, September 13, at the Newark One Stop, located at 990 Broad Street, Newark.

QuickStart is a fast-paced six-week training program that helps unemployed people learn about entrepreneurship and how to launch their own small business in order to create their own jobs.  In addition to classroom training, QuickStart participants get one-on-one consultations with business experts and are further supported by six months of mentoring from the Institute For Entrepreneurial Leadership.  Funded by a grant from the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development, QuickStart is FREE for people who are unemployed.

The New York City Fire Department is currently accepting applications for the 2012 Firefighter Examination. Qualified candidates will have the opportunity to start an exciting and rewarding career as New York City Firefighters.   3. Click on "FIREFIGHTER" (Exam number 2000)
  4. Print and carefully read over the Notice of Examination. Please pay particular attention to the Age Requirements section on the 2nd page, and the Qualifications section on the 3rd and 4th pages.
  5. Check the box on the bottom of the page, and click on "Apply for Exam"
  6. Follow the instructions for applying. You will be required to pay an application fee of $25. If you are unemployed or receiving public assistance, you may be eligible for a fee waiver. Please refer to the online instructions or contact our office for details.
  7. If you have served on full-time active duty, you are eligible for a Veterans' Credit (Veterans' Preference). If you have a 10 percent or greater Service Connected Disability, you are eligible for a Disabled Veterans' Credit.
