Dear friends of transit and bicycling,

The state DOT is in charge of plans not only for freeway widening between Wauwatosa and Downtown, but also for all forms of transportation in the surrounding area.

As the DOT makes its plans, the public is invited to submit comments until midnight tonight (Friday 4/15, Tax Day - let's have a voice in how our tax $ are spent!).

The stage of the planning they are in right now is the point at which it is possible to inexpensively include plans for transit lanes (including Bus Rapid Transit) and bicycle and pedestrian crossings.

There is still also a (more remote) chance to replace the DOT's "preferred alternative" with the "rehab+transit" alternative -- just as safe, but serves more travelers at a far lower price tag.

Please consider doing one of the following (if you can, on such short notice)

1) Send a one-minute e-mail to Jason...@dot.wi.gov asking the Department of Transportation to include all forms of transportation in its planning:  at least Bus Rapid Transit and good bicycle and pedestrian accommodations, and even better the rehab+transit alternative plan.  Currently the WisDOT "preferred alternative" has NO plans to include transit in the more-than-$850 million budget.

2) If you have NO TIME, you can just sign the form at this link:

Thank you!
