Hi Dov,

great to hear

2017-01-05 15:20 GMT+01:00 Dov TSAL SELA <dov.ts...@gmail.com>:
Hi Yves,

I'd love to do a coach-retreat in Bangkok in February

Same format as teh one in Romania, meaning two local co-facilitators I coach before, and translated material.

1. I'd love to have your blessing! :)
you forgot Oana ;-)
I'm ok with it.
Oana I guess you too?

2. As last time, I am having a hard time to find the support material, can you (re)point me to it?
it's a dropbox folder.
what is your dropbbox account, then I'll reshare with you

3. Last time I remember you said I should have distributed it in a distribution-list inviting people, I plan to do it thru a Bangkok-meetup, but would love to publish it thru your channels as well, can you please share them?

there is a mailing list for it coachr...@googlegroups.com (in cc now)

And of course, have a Great Year!!
I'm having some mailing list troubels to send out my new years video

(
I don't like new-year ceremonies, but adored Louis CK's greeting, hence I share it with you (underlined the part that sang in my heart)

I wish you all a Happy New Year. Meaning that I wish for your New Years Eve to be happy.

It’s hard to wish hundreds of thousands of people to have an entire happy year. That’s a lot. That feels greedy and hopeless and also some of you might not deserve a happy year.

Everyone deserves a happy moment or day now and again but a whole happy year I would wish on maybe eight people and four of them are terminally ill children.

Also please remember that the turning over of one year to another is a mental construct that bears no more weight than the things that keep us apart and in competitive categories as human beings.

Time is not moving.

You’re not losing or gaining ground.

You’re not separate from “them” anymore than you’re separate from your own umbrella.

It’s now, we’re us and this is here.

yes

If you’re in pain, this too shall pass. If you’re in luxury, this too shall pass.

haha

Ask an old lady how she’s doing.

The internet is not real.

I connect with my best friends only through the internet so I don't believe that

Draw a picture on a napkin.

I have trouble as I have bad hand eye coordination
yet I'm teaching my kids drawing facilitation techniques

Thanks!
- Searching for my dropbox I found the material, Thanks!!!
- Judging from last time with Oana, it would be great to have a short video in the material welcoming the people and saying a few words,
I can't use Oana's Romanian one, perhaps one of you record one in English (I can put subtitles :)

On the personal level:
- I got your video, thanks :)
- No need to argue with Louis CK, I have a much bigger take on reality ;)
- If we ever meet and have the time, I'd love to do a drawing session with you, my passion (one of...) is helping people discover they can draw! (that's how I got into coaching :D )

Will keep you posted!

many people have tried and failed
my teacher in highschool told my brother 6 years later, that I was the worst student she ever had.

now I understand that i have a physical disability to draw. (I can't draw a straight line or a circle and even coloring in between the lines of an object I can't do )
and I'm ok with that.

Will keep you posted!

A question to you all (regarding a Bangkok coach retreat)

What's the largest number of participants you ever had?
Assuming I have a big enough space for 10 groups, is 50 too much in your opinion?

(I'll have me and two co-facilitators)

Thx!

Thank you Yves for including me 😘
Great to hear, this is awesome news, Dov, you're doing a great job to promote the Coachretreat; it's very gratifying for me as one of the "inventors" of the format. I suppose it's true also for Yves as my pair-inventor, but I won't speak on his behalf :).
Happy New Year with plenty coachretreats!
Hugs,
Oana

Yep, I think 50 is too much for a true intensive learning and connection
But this is only my perspective, maybe there is a way to do it that I have not discovered.

Hi Dov,
I'd say that the maximum size will be 25.
you may consider do 2 sessions beyond this number.

Oana

You know of course that one of the most intense learning happens in the all group retrospective between the coaching dojo sessions. The quality of interaction when there are 50  people drops to a level where it can trigger frustrations.
Cheers,
Oana

I know, in fact I was thinking of a possibility to split the team in two with two facilitators.
I had great retrospectives in 30+ people full-day events. but not much more. you are right.

Hi Dov, all,

Here are my 2c:

- Oana's point is really important, IMHO. There is great value to the retrospective and sharing session in between practices.
- Having said that, Anthony Robbins, for example, runs a 3 day workshop of 1000s of people. So clearly we can scale the CoachRetreat, given the right framework.
So in addition to what you've discussed:
- I think that opening and closing of the day should be in one group. Possibly short and less interactive. This should also include presenting the facilitators, and breaking to 20-ish groups.
- Part of the current opening and closing should probably move to sessions in the 20-ish groups. This should be the more interactive parts, so the group of 20 could form themselves as a large team.
- Most of the day would then be in the current form, where each group does its thing in the retreat.
I think it's a good idea to encourage sharing experiences over lunch break.
This can be loosely facilitated - for example: before lunch invite people to share one experience with someone from the other group/s, and after the break have a mini circle of questions.
- At day end have a short joint closing activity, again, probably again less interactive.

If this seems like a good direction you might need to drop one exercise, or shorten breakout sessions or both.

Hi everybody,
Rétrospectives And coach retreat have different learning goals I believe.
therefore one process may not fit both.
