Hello folk,

First of all, I want to tell you that the last coach retreat was GREAT. People love it and it was a lot fun and great things happen :)

I wanted to share with you a few things:

New things that we tried from latest feedbacks:

  • Handout (Attached to this email)
  • English-Revision in situations (Attached to this email)
  • We let 2 spots to attendees. The idea was to let the option to attendees to present their favorite technique. It works fantastic, it was great experts for some techniques and people love it.
  • Introduction of Games: Ellen proposed to play with LEGOs + appreciation inquiries + situation #2. Result: Fantastic.
Some ideas that I would like to deploy in the next one (Maybe on Michigan/Detroit, US):

  • People would like to see more details in each technique. Principally those newbies to the technique. Ellen (I co-facilitated the last coachretreat with her, it was a GREAT experience!) proposed to apply some technique from "Teaching from the back of the room". I really use those techniques, but it is not clear for me how to apply it in each technique, so I will work with her to dig more on that and try to get something to validate in the next one.
  • The handout the people like it, but we should send it by email in advance. Normally we do that, but for some reason, we didn't for this one, and we get the feedback :)
  • People like the game session, I will work more on that to put something in place.
  • People love when experts spend 5/10 minutes explaining the technique. I will keep it

That is all :)

Feel free to ask questions or your comments. I am also interested if you try something new, so, feel free to share it.

Take care,

Omar Bermudez

Hello Omar,

Thank you for sharing these valuable feedbacks.

According to me, as an attendee of the 2 french coach retreats (Paris & Lille) with Oana, i like these ideas:
  • let the option to attendees to present their favorite technique.
It's a good thing to widen the circle of techniques for discovering new one especially when somebody is skilled at

  • experts spend 5/10 minutes explaining the technique
I think it is more efficient to refresh the "why & how" just before practicing

  • Introduction of Games
it may be  helpfull to re-energise people who are tired in the afternoon

  • The handout the people like it, but we should send it by email in advance.
Sure it can help in order to be ready to practice more efficiently the D Day

I'm eager to practice again ;)

Hello everybody,
This is great group dynamics , simply awesome!
On quick remark : I won't recommend sending slide decks and or situations before the session.
One of the learnings of the coachretreat is the coach attitude : sense and respond on what happens, instead of predicting what might happen.
So in coachretreat spirit , please try to resist the control temptation ;) , so no information before the session, it's about having fun , not attending a training :)
Have a great sunny Sunday,
Oana
