By the way, I found something interesting too. If anyone would like to use dgvoodoo only without OpenMM1, you don't need to rename midtown.exe to MidtownMadness.exe. All you have to do is copy and paste midtown.exe into the same folder where the game is located, and you will get another .exe file called midtown - Copy.exe. I guess this way is better than renaming the original .exe file as in this case you will still have the original .exe intact and you have the new .exe that works with dgvoodoo.
Renaming is done to deactivate the shims. When the file is renamed, the shim is not activated as it is only activated when the executable name matches. If you write 'yourname.exe' instead of 'MidtownMadness.exe' you will get the same result as 'midtown - Copy.exe'
Can anyone send me the fsx.exe file, or give me a link to a website where I can download it? In a moment of madness I patched it with a program that I downloaded and now it gives an error message whenever I try to start it. I would re-install fsx, but my ...
I have tried the multiplayer patch and after I have applied the patch when I run midtown.exe I get a message which says: Please insert the correct CD-ROM, select OK and restart application. Before I applied the patch, the game works without insert the disk. I have lost my original game disc for Midtown Madness so I dont know if the patch solve my problems or not. Please help!
Thanks!
It works for me to run Midtown madness in high resolution on windows 8 and 10
if I use dgvoodoo 2.54 and rename Midtown.exe to midtownmadness.exe.
But this may not work with amd cards.
First, one has to open the file ui.ar in the Midtown madness directory. At the bottom of the file, one can find the different things such as the placing in the race required to unlock the next set of races as well as how many races it unlocks. There is also the stuff where you can choose how many races you must complete to unlock the cars such as the Panoz GTR-1. Below are the exact co-ordinates of the different vehicles (the offsets may vary in different hex editors, but not by much):
The placing in the race to unlock the next race - 012f7b36
How many races it unlocks at once - 012f7b4a
VW New Beetle - 012f7b5e
City Bus - 012f7c30
Cadillac Eldorado - 012f7d02
Ford Mustang Cruiser - 012f7dde
Ford F-350 - 012f7eb0
Ford Mustang Fastback - 012f782
Ford Mustang GT - 012f805e
Panoz GTR-1 - 012f813a
Panoz Roadster - 012f822a
Freightliner Century - 012f82fc
Just read from the ANSI text part and edit what one wants. Basically, what everyone whould want is to unlock every vehicle. Simple. Just set the "Unlock Flags" part to "Unlock Flags=0" or 00. In the Panoz GTR-1, set the unlock score to 0000. Even an amateur can drive that car then. It should be pretty simple to edit what one wants other than that.
