Thank you very much Eddie Nieves for setting this up. Here's a quick
catch up on where I've been and what I've done sine leaving Braddock.
I went to FIU and completed my BS in secondary social studies education
after 5 long years -- what can I tell you...I partied too hard with the
Sammies. From there I got a full scholarship to Penn State to do my MS
in curriculum and instruction. Upon graduation I was recruited by Palm
Beach County and taught @ Spanish River HS for 5 years. From there I
was recruited by UCLA to serve teachers and students in South Central
LA by providing professional development for them. I was recently
accepted into the doctoral program in Educational Leadership @ UCLA and
will be Dr. Pedro Cevallos in three short years. I married a beautiful
woman named Lynn Cevallos -- who also happens to be the most
intelligent woman I have ever been with -- on New Year's Eve 2004. We
just bought a gigantic single family home in 1.09 acres of land in
Hacienda Heights, CA (still in LA county) and we will move at the end
of the month. I am also co-writing an elementary social studies
methods textbook with my thesis advisor from Penn State, Dr. Murry
Nelson. I also do some editorial and consulting work for Pearson Scott
Foresman. That's what I've been up to. What about the rest of you?
What have you all been doing since the summer of '92? Do tell...

Pedro Cevallos

Congrats on the wedding...I still have the invite, but Alena and I
just couldn't make it.
Thanks also go out for responding to initial post for the group here.
I'm going to get a few more folks on it as soon as possible.

I'm still working for Google, almost 2 whole years now, but it feels
like 20 sometimes. I accepted a new role in the company, running IT
operations in Washington state (manage one sales site and one
engineering site), so I just moved out here to Woodinville, which is
about 25 minutes NE of Seattle, and 10 miles north of Kirkland, which
is the birthplace of that most American icon, Costco.

We're just getting settled in and ready for BABY. Our first is a boy,
he is due at the end of July.

Wow! Peter is damn successful... Ed, with a baby! Congrats to both of
you!

I am still single. Met a couple serious girlfriends, was engaged once -
but things just didn't work out. I am working at an all girl private
school in IT and loving it. I don't have summers off like the teachers
do but it's still a real fun job. I am also the assistant coach for the
Youth Sports Program, coaching basketball, volleyball, etc to a bunch
of 4th, 5th, and 6th grade girls.

Do we have any more braddock peeps coming on here? I ran into Christy
Cruz at the gym the other day. She told me that.... lets see if i
remember.

Lourdes de las traviesas, still skinny even after kids
ana laura?? I think that was her ended up married to ceaser from
braddock.
I can't remember anything else...

Hey Ed,

Glad you could join the group. Very good to hear from you, even if you
have turned into a pedophile, spending your summers touching the 4th,
5th, and 6th grade girls. Oh wait, I read that wrong :)

Feel free to invite anyone else you know from c/o '92 to the group. So
far I have only sent invites to people whose email addy's I could find
or had handy. Heck, I had to do some searching for yours (in the end, I
remembered you accepted an Orkut invite).

Sorry to hear your engagement didn't work out, but I know how that
feels. I think Pedro will echo my statement that marriage is one of
those things you just don't want to get wrong. It sounds cruel, but
women are like gloves: you need to find one that fits you perfectly,
everything else involves needless compromise. Of course, the same can
be said of us guys.

You should come up to WA and visit sometime. Ed, do you have an IM
screen name? I'm still using captpigard on AIM

I don't have AIM anymore. Got sick of the idiots on there spamming me
IMs. I am on MSN Messenger.

I see Christy Cruz joined up. So now she can confirm what I don't
remember from the gym. Sorry Christy but when I am working out I have a
hard time thinking and putting together thoughts. It's like I can't
think.

Christy, we got your email adddress because Nieves works at Google and
they own the Internet's Search Engine. They can find anything they
want! <insert evil laugh>

By the way Ed. That google maps thing is freakin awesome!!! How you can
pin locations to the map and how they have the satellite image. And how
they seem to have included some easter eggs in the satellite images is
neat too. Like street festivals, i heard burning man is there, also
they have the SF Giants playing baseball, etc... I haven't been able to
actually see but I've read about it.

And I IM'd Daina Rodriguez tonight to ask her if she'd want to sign up.
She said yes so can you send her the invite? Her email is DMR82 at
america online.

La Prog...holy crap that was a looong time ago.
Good to see that you are alive and well, Christy.

The guy from the gym is Ed Suarez, he's good people, one of my best
friends from the ol' Braddock days.

Ed,

Indeed, Google maps is even more successful than we anticipated.
Believe it or not, most of what you see is orginal design from Keyhole,
the company we acquired that produces the satellite images.

If you like Easter eggs, you should google our HQ and see that map,
nice surprise there. It's neat what you can arrange when you're a
big-ass company.

I'll send the invite to Daina. I'm glad to see the group is taking off.

Well long time no see everyone. What can I say it’s great to see the
crew again. I have been busy these last few years. After graduation I
went to school and became an Operating Room Scrub Nurse. In the winter
of ‘94 I moved to Georgia. Did some traveling in the states and then I
became a Mom (SCARY) in September of 2000 to a beautiful bouncing baby
girl. Samantha Abbigail who is now 4 going on 25 (GOD help me) =) I
FINALLY bought a house in Feb of last year, and now HATE the Home
Depot….lol I also became an Aunt in April.

Now I have decided to go back to school for Nursing. I was able to see
Steven Solis and then lost track of him. =) I have John Mendez’s Email
address and will see if he wants to join. As well as Mary Crockett, now
Mary Daley.

So now my life is the life of a single parent. Going to work and taking
care of my daughter and house.
Rather boring huh? ROFL

Christy,

Actually - I am E-E-Eddie. Nieves is just plain Eddie. :)

Yes, I am the dude from the gym.

I also ran into Anna Quintana there on Saturday. She is just as cute as
ever. Yes dimples are still in effect. She is married, nice freagin
rock on her finger too!! She was an underclassman so she doesn't really
qualify for the 92 group, but she was part of our "grupito". And she'll
be turning 30 in october. Just to make us in the over 30 crowd feel
just that much older.

E-Ed.

I will have to check out the Google HQ. I just search for Google HQ and
it comes up?

There is also theories out there about "UFOs" on some of the images.
I've seen screenshots of these orbs than seem to just hover. So
obviously all the Area 51 freaks are saying that Google has made
contact with aliens etc.....

:)

The engagement didn't work out. But that's sorta old news. It's been a
few years now. But still dating, still looking... Hardest part is not
just finding a glove that fits you, but your glove also has to fit her.
So maybe it's more like a nut and a bolt. If the threads don't line up,
you won't be able to screw it in and make it connect.

Washington? that could be cool.

Welcome to the group, mother Daina. Glad to see you're doing well.
I love Home Depot, sorry to see you don't share the sentiment :)

Any store where at least 15 people die each year (ie, guy climbs shelf
marked "do not climb", trying to bring down toilet, falls and breaks
his neck) is worthy of..something

Ed, chasing the ladies at the gym...the married ones, no less. You go
with your bad self!
I remember Anna, no surprise she's taken.
Maybe we can set up a separate google group for "el grupito"

It IS cool, and hot at times, too. Unlike most states, WA has 4 actual
seasons. One huge misconception is that it rains all the time, which is
not true. While it does tend to be cloudy/overcast more often that
usual, annual rainfall is on par with everywhere else on the coasts. Of
course, hot here is nothing like Miami, but when you're like me and
haven't been living in Florida for over 5 years now, you get
un-accustomed to the MIA weather.

As far as Google maps, if you map our HQ (1600 Amphitheater Pkwy,
Mountain View, CA 94043), you should be able to zoom in and see all of
us employees looking up and waving at you. It was sweet, we arranged
for a photo to be taken of us from space. Not every company can list
that as a perk...

So Christine, keep in touch with any of the old La Prog folks? Does
that place even exist anymore?

Gee, who *was* I friends with @ La Prog...I really don't know. I
suppose since we were in the same class, we knew the same people. I
lost touch with everyone from there after I left to go to Braddock. For
a short while, I kept in touch with Abner Perez, but that was about it.
Same goes for Yvonne (or is it Ivonne?) Alfonso.

Ed has a point about "feeling old"...I don't really, but learning that
my sister had her 20-year reunion this year with them old La Prog folks
sure does drive home the point that the years do indeed go by.

I don't see it! Are you messing with me to see how long I stare at the
satellite image? I see the complex. I see the golf course and
amphitheater to the north. I see the blue houses to the south.... But
no one waving. Matter of fact, I don't even see cars in the parking
lot.

And question: Just how much of that is Google? Like how far does it
stretch?

Hmm, I guess we took off that snippet, where we are all waving. Oh
well..

Our HQ campus is quite large, but a bit spread out. We currently own
all 4 buildings in the old SGI campus, plus another 4 buildings across
the street from them. We're also expanding, and we never let go of our
old campus, which is a quarter mile down the street.
